Audition Requirements

To ensure a smooth and professional audition process, please adhere to the following requirements when preparing for your audition at StageLight Acting Academy:

  1. Headshot and Resume: Bring a professional headshot and a current acting resume. The headshot should be a clear representation of your current appearance, and the resume should highlight your relevant experience, training, and special skills. Staple your headshot to the back of your resume.
  2. Monologue or Song: Depending on the production, you may be required to prepare a monologue or a song. Choose material that showcases your strengths as a performer and is appropriate for the style and tone of the production. Ensure your monologue is well-rehearsed and within the specified time limit. If singing, bring sheet music in the correct key for the accompanist (if one is provided).
  3. Sides: Be prepared to read sides provided at the audition. These are excerpts from the script that you will be asked to perform. Take the time to review the sides carefully and make strong character choices.
  4. Attire: Dress comfortably and professionally. Choose clothing that allows you to move freely and does not distract from your performance. Avoid wearing overly flashy or revealing attire.
  5. Punctuality: Arrive on time for your scheduled audition. Being late demonstrates a lack of respect for the audition panel's time and may negatively impact your chances.
  6. Professionalism: Maintain a professional and respectful attitude throughout the audition process. Be polite to the audition panel and other auditionees. Listen carefully to instructions and follow them to the best of your ability.
  7. Preparation: The key to a successful audition is thorough preparation. Practice your monologue or song until you feel confident and comfortable performing it. Research the production and the characters to gain a deeper understanding of the material.
